Aroostook County (set off from Hancock County to Penobscot County in 1816, to Aroostook County in 1839)


1859 as Grant Isle Plantation; organized in 1862 for the assessment of taxes


1869 as the town of Grant Isle; name changed in 1872 to Grand Isle
