1784 from Megeis and West Machias; name changed to West Machias upon partitioning in 1826; name changed back to Machias in 1830


Boundary Changes

Bucks Harbor Neck (now part of Machiasport) was annexed in 1811

Land was set off to form East Machias and Machiasport in 1826, Whitneyville in 1845, and Marshfield in 1846

Part of Jonesboro was annexed in 1838
