Somerset County (set off from Lincoln County to Kennebec County in 1799, to Somerset County in 1809)

Organized

1873 as Dennistown Plantation; organization was confirmed and made valid in 1895

Dennistown is said to have earlier been organized as a district of Moose River Plantation in the 1850s, before multiple-township plantations were abolished in 1859
