This database includes all deaths reported to the state between January 1960 and March 1997 and made available by the Maine Department of Human Services. (Note that data from 1996 is incomplete.)

Computer disks holding the index of records from 1956 to 1959 were found to be unreadable. An effort is now underway to transcribe this index from microfilm.

Death records from 1996 to 2007 are now available on the Maine State Archives website.
