This database includes 987,098 marriages reported to the state from 1892 to 1966, and from 1977 to 2009. Entries from 1967 to 1976 are not available, having been stored on computer disks later found unreadable.
Great effort has been made to correct typographical errors, remove duplicate records, standardize the spelling of place names, and supply names missing in the original index of Maine marriages formerly provided by the State Archives. Many errors undoubtedly remain, and many corrected entries need to be checked against the original records.
