Find Double Metaphone Code(s) for Surname

Double Metaphone is a method of coding surnames phonetically, based on how a surname sounds rather than how it is spelled. Surnames such as Cone and Kohn, which sound the same but are spelled differently, will have the same code. Names with ambiguous pronunciations may be assigned a secondary code. Smith and Schmidt each have two codes, but have only one in common. Double Metaphone improves upon the older Soundex method, and may be used when searching the databases on this website.
